Amici Cantabile

We are a group of friends who were brought together by our love of singing.  Regular attendance at the ‘Singing & Wellbeing Workshops’, which started in 2012 under the tutelage and nurturing of singers Rose Bellingham and Peter Osborn and MD/piano accompanists Jonathan Cohen and Francis Haines, provided us with opportunities to link up and work on ensemble pieces.  This then led us to form Amici Cantabile in 2014 and build up an ever increasing repertoire of operatic duets, trios, quartets and quintets.  We’ve been greatly helped on by MD/piano accompanist Lydia Newlands, with whom we’ve studied and performed a diverse range of quintets (including Bizet’s ‘Carmen Quintet’), quartets, trios, duets and solo arias by virtuoso, classical composers such as Beethoven, Offenbach and Mozart; and mastered complex languages in works by Dvorak and Tchaikovsky.

Carmen Quintet

Here we are performing the Smugglers quintet “Nous avons en tête une affaire” from Bizet’s Carmen on Friday 13th at Hinde Street church as part of our “I have a Song to Sing” concert in aid of the WLM charity. We had such fun performing this piece.
